Retail Clerk Seasonal

About the role

Engages, connects, and offers guidance and education for guests in our Sierra Nevada Gift Shop and our Brewery location. Serves as a brand ambassador for Sierra Nevada by welcoming guests, initiating conversations, accurately answering questions, processing retail transactions and providing assistance, and creating a genuine connection supporting our relationship-driven business.

Responsibilities

• Provides a friendly welcoming environment by smiling, greeting and acknowledging every guest when they enter the store and engaging them in conversation.
• Operates computerized cash register and Point of Sale (POS) system. Assures fast, efficient check-out.
• Handles cash and accurately makes change, assists guests with returns and exchanges.
• Answers general customer questions about the brewery including the history of Sierra Nevada, the Craft Beer industry in general, and beer styles.
• Stocks merchandise including placement on racks, shelves, counters and tables, ensuring that stock levels on the sales floor are maintained at all times.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of storage spaces.
• Participates in store Team meetings, team collaborations, and required training.
• Stocks the beverage cooler and faces product, practicing FIFO and rotating inventory properly.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of Sierra Nevada retail merchandise brands and availability.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of merchandise, food items, and beverage ingredients.
• Performs light housekeeping of Gift Shop and stock areas. Cleans shelves, counters, windows and tables.
• Greet and interact with both internal and external customers, handling inquiries and directing them according to specific needs; when possible, resolves customer issues through empathy, active listening and creative problem solving.
• Maintains cleanliness of Gift Shop and stock areas. Cleans shelves, counters, windows and tables.
• React to glass breakage, spills and similar incidents in accordance with our departmental safety procedures.
• Aligns with responsible beverage selling policies according to local alcohol laws.
• Answers the Gift Shop phone lines for the brewery, fields questions with appropriate phone etiquette.
• Ability to pour beer when necessary to support tastings and bar/retail sales opportunities.
• Provides flex work into tours support, First Impression Team assistance, and support the overall Guest Experience department mission as needed.

We're committed to our employees and work hard to prove it. For starters, we’re offering $13.29 to $20.53 hourly compensation for this role. Individual offers are based on skills, experience, and qualifications, and geographical location. Join our team for the busy season! This seasonal position will run through December 31, 2026, offering a great opportunity to gain experience and be part of a dynamic work environment. Scheduled shifts may vary and can range from 5 to 10 hours per day based on business needs.

Qualifications

• To be considered, you must be at least 21 years of age to work for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.
• Selected candidate must pass a pre-employment, post offer background check.
