Retail Clerk

About the role

The Retail Clerk performs retail sales, takes inventory and provides customer service at Bonanza Express Store. This is a regular full-time position. The work environment is a retail business environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computer, phones, photocopier, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Responsibilities

• Provide cashier services to Bonanza Express customers
• Maintain merchandise and cleanliness of store
• Stock shelves and maintain in‑stock merchandise
• Haul freight from truck to storage room
• Ensure compliance of company policies, procedures and practices
• Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
• Perform other duties as assigned

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment and to effectively and professionally assist customers
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow‑up
• Ability to convey information clearly, effectively, and professionally
• Active listening skills; attentiveness when listening to others to understand, ask appropriate questions, etc.
• Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide, find ratios/percentages) quickly and correctly and read bar charts and graphs

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred
• Must be at least 19 years of age to sell tobacco products
• Must be dependable and able to work a flexible schedule
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
• Ability to lift 70 lbs. and lift heavy boxes
• Must have great customer service
• 1 year in related experience preferred
• Ability to pass a background screening and credit check

Schedule

Days and hours of work vary by schedule; evening and weekend work may be required as schedule demands.
