Retail Certified Pharm Technician

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assists in the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, including preparation and distribution of medications to patients and patient care areas. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

What You Will Do

• Assists Pharmacist in prescription order preparation/delivery.
• Receives and transcribes new orders and refill authorizations (not applicable to I/P Tech).
• Uses medication orders to identify, locate and pull appropriate quantity of medication needed.
• Prepares medication for dispensing.
• Packages medication order for delivery.
• Accurately requests refill authorizations from prescribers (or not applicable to I/P Tech).
• Delivers prescription orders to patients or patient care area under the direction of the Pharmacist

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience preferred
• Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire.
• Valid IA driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
• 1 year pharmacy technician experience preferred OR Registered Pharmacist-Intern with the State of Iowa at the time of hire
