About the role
MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is looking for an energetic, self-motivated, and professional Retail Cashier to join our Blue Springs Store - MO-7 team! Responsibilities
- Make customers a priority by greeting and acknowledging them as they enter the store, helping on the sales floor, and answering the phone within three rings with a professional greeting.
- Operate the store cash register: cash handling, credit card transactions, appropriate discount returns, and cash register balancing.
- Stock, straighten, rotate, and maintain the cleanliness of the entire store area efficiently and to standard.
- Request assistance from managers for returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.
- Uphold store cleanliness standards by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and shining surfaces.
- Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with team members and leadership and work cross-functionally with other teams to increase communication.
- Utilize safe work practices through awareness and observation.
- Contribute to ensuring the workplace is hazard-free by removing obstructions and keeping aisles and designated walkways debris-free.
- Maintain a professional appearance always, adhering to MERS/Goodwill’s dress code.
- Safeguard agency assets, including cash, donated items, and purchased items, from harm, damage, or theft; report any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of agency assets.
- Adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies, Goodwill Retail procedures, and safety and security regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- No degree is required.
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and management.
- Must be organized and capable of interacting with a diverse work population.
- Necessary math skills include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
