About the role

The Retail Banker I role is integral to delivering TD’s Brand promise by utilizing financial expertise and consultative advice to assist customers with their banking solutions/needs. This role contributes to the achievement of business objectives that enable growth through identifying appropriate TD solutions that help customers achieve their financial goals and optimize their relationship with TD.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize financial expertise to identify opportunities to educate customers on TD products and services, and refer them to appropriate team members or internal Bank partners.
  • Proactively engage with customers to understand their needs and recommend solutions that address their financial goals and challenges.
  • Use CRM tools to assess customer needs and proactively identify solutions, leading focused outbound sales activities.
  • Resolve customer issues, errors, and problems independently, escalating when necessary.
  • Build and nurture customer relationships by demonstrating product knowledge, actively listening to customer needs, and offering solutions or referrals.
  • Manage customer transactions, including check cashing, deposits, transfers, and withdrawals, while monitoring for fraud.
  • Advocate for customers with proactive insights and recommendations, supporting their financial confidence and saving time and money.
  • Maintain an active NMLS registration status to facilitate loan origination activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years' experience working with customers and/or sales in any capacity, or equivalent demonstrated through volunteering, education, or military experience.
  • Teller experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in customer conversations, educate them on products and services, and organize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to be concise, clear, and consistent.
  • Demonstrated organization skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and within deadlines.
  • Sound judgment in decision-making and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Notary license preferred.

  • Full proficiency in the full product suite, services, and processes of the business area.
  • Ability to resolve customer issues, errors, and problems independently.
  • Active NMLS registration status.
