Retail Associate - Full Time (Dupont Village)

As a Retail Associate at Goodwill Industries of Northeast Indiana, you are the face of the organization. Every day brings something different—assisting with purchases, maintaining the sales floor, sorting and pricing donations, and interacting with donors and customers.
Responsibilities
- Operates cash register, gives correct change and receipt, and bags purchases.
- Accepts credit cards for purchase according to established procedures.
- Watches for illegal activity and alerts management.
- Keeps cash register area orderly and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Maintains floor and fitting rooms during business hours.
- Refers customer problems to management.
- Sorts, hangs, tags, and prices clothing donations according to established guidelines.
- Pulls items according to established procedures and meets production standards.
- Handles all aspects of customer service in a professional manner.
- Follows all safety rules and practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management in support of Goodwill’s mission.
- Assists customers in locating merchandise and prices.
- Displays merchandise in windows and display cases.
- Answers telephone and inquiries regarding donation sites and policies.
- Attends monthly store meetings.
To promote customer and donor satisfaction, employees must maintain a positive outlook and project a pleasant, courteous, and helpful demeanor at all times when dealing with the public, donors, co-workers, and clients.
Requirements
- Ability to operate a POS terminal and count back change.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 20 lbs. frequently, 50 lbs. occasionally, and 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Minimum of three months of work experience.
- Basic literacy to complete forms.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Ability to work within a team concept.
- Subject to background check and random alcohol/drug testing as specified in the Drug-Free Workplace Program.

Schedule
- Set rotating schedules with no late shifts.
Physical Demands
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, grasping, lifting, pulling, and pushing.
- Moderate crouching, stooping, hearing, and talking.
- Heavy work: Pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. occasionally, and 20 lbs. frequently.
Work is performed indoors. Employees must fully perform lifting and moving duties as required.
