About the role
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting with merchandise, and maintaining a clean and organized store.
Responsibilities
- Understands and practices safety in all actions.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, recognizing fellow associates through company recognition programs.
- Assists customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, and answering questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Responds promptly and efficiently to customer service calls and handles issues courteously, escalating to leadership when necessary.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and replenishing restroom supplies.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company’s dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery tasks to keep the store neat and organized.
- Expedites new merchandise receipts and merchandises items according to company best practices.
- Understands and follows loss prevention policies and processes.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with customers and associates.
- Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock policies, identifies and processes merchandise, and notifies leadership for approval.
- Handles cash, checks, charge cards, and refunds accurately and efficiently.
- Executes all store best practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop occasionally.
- Ability to lift more than 25 pounds occasionally and more than 20 pounds as a Stockroom shift associate.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
