About the role

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting them, maintaining a clean store, and performing various cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
  • Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy, and recognizes fellow associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists customers in any way necessary, including being register-trained, assisting with merchandise, and answering customer questions politely and knowledgeably.
  • Greets all customers by making eye contact, smiling, and saying "hello" throughout the store, and "thank you" with every register transaction.
  • Responds promptly and efficiently to customer service calls and handles customer issues courteously and helpfully, escalating to leadership when necessary.
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company's dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery tasks to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor and merchandises items according to company best practices.
  • Understands and follows the Loss Prevention Awareness program, Shortage Highway, and Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock (MOS) policies, including identifying and processing MOS merchandise, notifying leadership for approval, and following disposal procedures.
  • Handles cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions accurately and follows all policies and procedures.
  • Manages work processes effectively, aligns with business goals, prioritizes tasks, builds talent, collaborates with others, leads by example, communicates effectively, ensures accountability, and executes tasks efficiently.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/ADA

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Associates who work stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $17.13 - $17.63. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
