Retail Associate

About the role

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting with merchandise, responding to customer inquiries, and performing various cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Understands and practices safety in all activities.
• Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, recognizing fellow associates through Company recognition programs.
• Assists customers with merchandise, answers questions politely, and greets customers by making eye contact and saying "hello" throughout the store.
• Responds promptly and efficiently to customer service calls, addressing issues courteously and appropriately.
• Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
• Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
• Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company's dress code.
• Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery tasks to keep the store neat and organized.
• Expedites new merchandise receipts, merchandising items according to company best practices, and maintaining merchandise familiarity within departments.
• Understands and follows loss prevention policies, Shortage Highway, and Store Protection Specialist (SPS) procedures.
• Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
• Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock (MOS) policies, identifying and processing pieces of merchandise, and notifying leadership for approval.
• Handles cash, checks, charge cards, and refunds accurately, following all policies and procedures.
• Manages work processes effectively, prioritizing tasks and maximizing productivity.
• Communicates effectively with customers, associates, and leadership.
• Ensures accountability and execution of all store best practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

• Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
• Able to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/ADA

• Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry more than 20 pounds.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
