About the role
The Retail Associate ensures our customers have a positive shopping experience by maintaining a welcoming, clean, and organized store environment. Associates perform a variety of tasks across all store areas as business needs require, including customer service, merchandising, and operational duties.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize safety by practicing safe behaviors and maintaining a secure shopping environment for customers and associates.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect, courtesy, and professionalism; greet customers warmly and assist them promptly.
- Provide register-trained assistance, answer customer questions, and handle issues courteously, escalating to leadership when needed.
- Perform cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the company dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery tasks to ensure a neat, organized, and efficiently merchandised store.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandising items according to company standards and brand guidelines.
- Understand and follow loss prevention programs, including merchandise protection standards and proper handling of mark-out-of-stock (MOS) items.
- Follow all policies and procedures for cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions, ensuring accuracy and security.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and maximize productivity by executing store best practices efficiently.
Requirements
- Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and leadership in a friendly, respectful, and cooperative manner.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Qualifications
- Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
- For stockroom shifts: Ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
