Retail Associate
About the role
The Retail Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers. They are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment, treating both customers and colleagues with respect, and performing a variety of tasks across different areas of the store.
Responsibilities
- Understands safety as the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting any unsafe conditions.
- Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy, greeting them with a smile and saying "hello" and "thank you."
- Assists customers by being register-trained, assisting with merchandise, and answering questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Responds promptly and efficiently to customer service calls and handles issues courteously, escalating to leadership when necessary.
- Represents the company brand and maintains confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and replenishing supplies.
- Ensures merchandise is neatly presented and organized, following company best practices.
- Follows loss prevention policies, identifies and processes out-of-stock merchandise, and reports to leadership for approval.
- Handles cash, checks, and credit card transactions accurately and follows all policies.
- Maximizes productivity by executing store best practices and minimizing steps in workflow.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use store equipment, including point-of-sale terminals, registers, and computers.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to lift and push/pull more than 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment and other assigned supplies.
