About the role

The Retail Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. They greet customers, assist with merchandise, answer questions, and maintain a clean and organized store.

Responsibilities

  • Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
  • Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, and uses company recognition programs.
  • Assists customers, assists with merchandise, and answers questions politely and knowledgeably.
  • Responds promptly and efficiently to customer service calls and handles issues courteously, involving leadership when necessary.
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and replenishing restroom supplies.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company’s dress code.
  • Expedites new merchandise receipts, merchandises items according to company best practices, and maintains departmental familiarity.
  • Understands loss prevention awareness, shortage highway, and store protection specialist standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock policies, identifies and processes MOS merchandise, and follows cash, check, charge card, and refund procedures.
  • Works with urgency to maximize productivity and execute store best practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/ADA

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to lift and push/pull more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
