About the role
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting them, maintaining a clean and organized store, and performing various cleaning tasks.
Responsibilities
- Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy, and recognizes fellow associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assists customers in any way necessary, including being register-trained, assisting with merchandise, and answering customer questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to customer service calls, handling issues courteously and calling leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Performs daily assigned tasks such as sizing and recovery, expediting new merchandise receipts, and maintaining a neat and organized store.
- Understands and follows loss prevention policies, including identifying and processing lost or stolen merchandise.
- Follows all policies and procedures regarding cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions, and maintains a high level of accuracy.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and maximizes productivity by executing all store best practices and minimizing steps and touches in their workflow.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
