About the role

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. They greet customers, assist with merchandise, answer questions, and perform various cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
  • Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, and recognizes fellow associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists customers with merchandise, answers questions politely, and greets customers by making eye contact and saying "hello."
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to customer service calls, handles customer issues courteously, and calls leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company's dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery tasks to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store.
  • Expedites new merchandise receipts to the sales floor, merchandising items per company best practice, and maintaining merchandise/brand name familiarity within departments.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock (MOS) policies, identifies MOS merchandise, processes each piece correctly, and notifies leadership for review and approval.
  • Handles cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions accurately, follows void and offline procedures, and maintains a high level of accuracy.
  • Manages work processes effectively, aligns and prioritizes tasks, builds talent, collaborates, leads by example, communicates effectively, ensures accountability and execution, and manages supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/ADA

  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $17.13 - $17.63. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
