About the role
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting with merchandise, answering questions, and performing various cleaning tasks.
Responsibilities
- Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, recognizing fellow associates using company recognition programs.
- Assists customers by being register-trained, assisting with merchandise, and answering customer questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Responds promptly and efficiently to customer service calls and handles issues courteously, escalating to leadership when necessary.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company’s dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery tasks to keep the store neat and organized.
- Expedites new merchandise receipts to the sales floor and merchandises items according to company best practices.
- Understands and follows loss prevention policies, including identifying and processing lost or stolen merchandise.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers.
- Handles cash, checks, charge cards, and refunds accurately and follows all policies and procedures.
- Executes all store best practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps and touches in their workflow.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
