Retail Associate
About the role
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting with merchandise, and maintaining a clean and organized store.
Responsibilities
- Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by keeping the sales floor clean and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, recognizing fellow associates through Company recognition programs.
- Assists customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, and answering questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Responds promptly to customer service calls and handles issues courteously, escalating to leadership when necessary.
- Represents the company brand at all times and performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery tasks to maintain a neat and organized store.
- Merges newly received merchandise to the sales floor and maintains merchandise familiarity.
- Understands and follows loss prevention policies and processes.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers.
- Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock policies, identifies and processes merchandise, and notifies leadership for approval.
- Handles cash, checks, charge cards, and refunds accurately and efficiently.
- Maximizes productivity by following store best practices and minimizing steps in workflow.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including point of sale terminals, registers, and computers.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment and push/pull up to 20 pounds.
