Retail Associate
About the role
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting with merchandise, answering questions, and performing various cleaning tasks.
Responsibilities
- Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by keeping the sales floor clean and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, recognizing fellow associates using company recognition programs.
- Assists customers with merchandise, answers questions politely, and greets customers by making eye contact and saying "hello."
- Responds promptly to customer service calls and handles issues courteously, escalating to leadership when necessary.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Performs daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and replenishing restroom supplies.
- Expedites new merchandise receipts to the sales floor and merchandises items according to company best practices.
- Understands loss prevention policies and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers.
- Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock policies, identifies and processes MOS merchandise, and notifies leadership for approval.
- Handles cash, checks, charge cards, and refunds accurately and efficiently.
- Executes Store best practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
