Retail Associate
About the role
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting with merchandise, answering questions, and maintaining a clean and organized store.
Responsibilities
- Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by keeping the sales floor clean and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, recognizing fellow associates through company recognition programs.
- Assists customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, and responding to customer questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Represents the company brand at all times and performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and replenishing supplies.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery tasks to keep the store neat and organized.
- Expedites new merchandise receipts and merchandises items according to company best practices.
- Understands and follows loss prevention policies, including identifying and disposing of lost or stolen merchandise.
- Handles cash, checks, and credit card transactions accurately and follows all policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency and maximizes productivity by executing all store best practices.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
