About the role
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. This includes greeting customers, assisting with merchandise, answering questions, and maintaining a clean and organized store.
Responsibilities
- Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy, recognizing fellow associates through Company recognition programs.
- Assists customers by being register-trained, helping with merchandise, and responding politely to customer inquiries.
- Responds promptly and efficiently to customer service calls and handles issues courteously, escalating to leadership when necessary.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and replenishing restroom supplies to maintain a clean and organized store.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery tasks to ensure a neat and well-maintained store.
- Expedites new merchandise receipts and merchandises items according to company best practices.
- Understands and follows loss prevention policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with customers and associates.
- Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock policies and processes each piece of merchandise properly.
- Handles cash, checks, charge cards, and refunds accurately and follows all policies and procedures.
- Executes all store best practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps in workflow.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop occasionally.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
