Retail Associate
About the role
The Retail Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. They greet customers, assist with merchandise, answer questions, and maintain a clean and organized store.
Responsibilities
- Understands safety is the top priority and practices safe behaviors.
- Maintains a safe and secure shopping environment by being aware of the sales floor and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy, and recognizes fellow associates using company recognition programs.
- Assists customers by being register-trained, assisting with merchandise, and answering questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Responds promptly and efficiently to customer service calls and handles issues courteously, escalating to leadership when necessary.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high-touch areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company's dress code.
- Expedites new merchandise receipts, merchandises items according to company best practices, and maintains departmental familiarity with merchandise and brand names.
- Understands loss prevention awareness, shortage highway, and the Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions with associates and customers, safeguarding confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
- Fulfills Mark-Out-of-Stock (MOS) policies, identifies and processes MOS merchandise, and notifies leadership for approval.
- Fulfills cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions with accuracy and follows all policies and procedures.
- Executes Store best practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps and touches in workflow.
Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements/ADA
- Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required.
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
- Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
