Retail Assistant Store Manager

Responsibilities
- Demonstrate leadership in driving sales and profitability by achieving financial goals.
- Lead KPI initiatives through Associate training and development.
- Maintain merchandise presentation according to Visual Merchandising standards, floor-sets, and product messaging, while ensuring all current sales promotions are upheld.
- Personally demonstrate a high level of customer engagement and set expectations for the team, ensuring the customer remains the center of all operations.
- Develop comprehensive product knowledge of the Duluth brand to provide solution-oriented, friendly service to customers, and lead the team in doing the same.
- Partner with the Store Manager to develop optimal staffing levels and floor coverage for customer engagement.
- Ensure customer profile information is accurately recorded and maintain Company standards for cleanliness across the sales floor, stockroom, restrooms, cash wrap, and hospitality area.
- Partner with the Store Manager to recruit, hire, train, motivate, and lead employees while demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and company values.
- Exhibit sound decision-making skills and perform with minimal supervision, focusing on solution-based approaches.
- Provide clear and consistent feedback to employees regularly.
- Assist the Store Manager in ensuring all Human Resource protocols and documentation are completed efficiently and maintain employee files according to standards.
- Assist in the goal-setting process for the Store leadership team.
- Adhere to all Company guidelines, policies, and programs, and set a positive example for the team.
- Be receptive and responsive to feedback, and identify problems or opportunities to discuss with the Store Manager.
- Understand inventory and expense control, and lead the team in handling merchandise receipts and transfers accurately and efficiently.
- Lead the team in visual merchandising of the sales floor.
- Understand, execute, and train all cash handling and reporting functions, ensuring proper processing of register functions.
- Ensure the store is secured and respond to alarms as directed.
- Maintain the safety of employees and customers, and communicate any concerns to the Store Manager or Human Resources.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Business Administration and/or Merchandising preferred.
- Three years of retail experience with a minimum of one year of management experience; retail management experience is preferred.
- Specialty retail leadership experience is a plus.
- Must be customer-centric and able to adapt in a growing and changing environment.
- Ability to motivate and lead others, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions.
- Must be goal-oriented, results-driven, and exemplify a high standard of integrity and trust.
- Excellent communication and listening skills, with the ability to collaborate and function as part of a team.
- Ability to work a flexible shift, including evenings and weekends.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Environmental Factors
- Must be able to stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.
- Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting — below the waist and above the shoulders.
- Frequently required to use repetitive hand-to-finger motions and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently lift up to 20 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Push/pull up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, reach, and bend.
- Work in temperatures ranging from 50–80 degrees, especially in stockroom areas.
- Able to use common tools such as a hammer, screwdriver, and wrench for floor sets.
- Use of a computer up to 60% of the time throughout the day.

Pay
$25.40 - $30.45/hour for the full-time position at this specific location, based on experience and qualifications.
