ReStore Warehouse/Sales Associate

Job Description The ReStore Sales Associate assists the ReStore Manager in certain administrative and operational functions of the Habitat NYC and Westchester ReStore. The sales associate assists the manager in achieving operational, financial, administrative, volunteer and customer goals. Flexible hours during the week; must work Saturdays. The ReStore is a fun work environment with many opportunities to learn new skills in marketing, sales, product research, leading volunteers and community engagement. Responsibilities Opening and closing of the Habitat ReStore for scheduled daily hoursOperating cash register POS systemCarryout general store operations and lead volunteer managementDaily sales/cash register reconciliationTrain new volunteers or assign a volunteer staff member to train the new volunteersOverseeing display and organization of showroom sales areas to ensure all items are properly priced and ticketed for saleOverseeing and maintaining daily Safety Checklists and recordsEnsuring accurate Charitable Donation Tax Receipts of donorsAssist with donation pick-ups on our truck as needed. This entails working with a fellow staff member in safely transporting merchandise from donor’s homes and/or businesses. This may include driving occasionallyAchieving excellent customer, donor and volunteer ratings Qualifications Knowledge of NYC “Commercial Vehicle Restrictions” of certain roadwaysMust pass a criminal background check and DMV checkMust have a valid NY State driver’s license and a clean driving recordExperience as a Driver of Commercial vehicles in New York City a plusAbility to speak Spanish a plusRetail sales, thrift experience preferred, volunteer supervision experience preferredCash register / POS Physical Demands Required to lift 75 pounds regularly / required to lift up to 100 pounds occasionallyWill experience frequent lifting, bending, squatting, and repetitive motionAbility to spend majority of the day standing & moving heavy itemsThis position will occasionally be exposed to extremes in weather (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, etc.).
