Restorative Aide

About the role

Provides resident care support under the direction of a licensed therapist. Assists residents to participate in tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance their performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting patients with transfers, walking, strength training, and range of motion exercises
  • Documenting service and changes in the patient's conditions
  • Assisting patients with dressing or grooming
  • Applying and monitoring splinting
  • Helping with amputation and prosthesis care
  • Carrying out individual restorative programs designed by the Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Pathologist
  • Communicating observations of residents' conditions, preventing residents' neglect, abuse, and violations of rights and privacy, and promoting continuity of care through accurate and timely documentation and reporting
  • Sanitization of whirlpools, tubs, and showers when used in restorative therapy
  • Assisting residents with ambulation and transfer as needed
  • Performing restorative care treatments
  • Encouraging residents to perform or participate in daily ADL functions
  • Demonstrating to residents and staff, as necessary, the procedures involved in the treatment process
  • Recommending modifications and changes in the resident's restorative care as indicated
  • Instructing and supervising resident during therapy
  • Briefing resident of procedures involved in restorative care and preparing the necessary equipment
  • Preparing resident for treatment by dress/position and administering restorative care in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Reassuring resident before and during therapy treatment
  • Assuring that all restorative care notes are informative and descriptive of the treatment provided and of the resident's response to the care
  • Ambulating residents in accordance with the resident's plan of care
  • Providing a range of motion (ROM) in accordance with the resident's plan of care

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must hold current CNA Certification in State employed
  • Current First Aid and CPR

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three months' prior Nursing Assistant experience in long-term care is preferred

Schedule

16-25 Hours Per Week
