About the Role

The Restorative Aide provides restorative nursing care and services to assigned residents based on their assessment and care plan.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with the Facility’s personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the nursing department’s policies and procedures.
  • Report witnessed allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Administrator.
  • Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner using only authorized abbreviations.
  • Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly documentation in accordance with restorative program guidelines with oversight by direct supervisor.
  • Work closely with therapists to establish restorative nursing goals and interventions for the resident’s care plan.
  • Monitor equipment and supplies utilized for the programs to ensure availability and proper working order.
  • Maintain a current list of restorative programs on each unit.
  • Provide care in accordance with the restorative aide assignment sheet.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules in completing assigned tasks.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel to ensure nursing services meet residents' needs.
  • Assist residents to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed.
  • Weigh and measure residents as instructed.
  • Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears.
  • Provide daily Range of Motion Exercises and record data as instructed.
  • Assist residents in the restorative dining program on a daily basis with breakfast and lunch.
  • Take and record vital signs when needed.
  • Release physically restrained residents at least every two hours and exercise for ten or more minutes.
  • Assist residents in progressive bathing, dressing, and grooming activities.
  • Follow established safety and isolation precautions in the performance of all duties.
  • Wear and use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts) when lifting or moving residents.
  • Review care plans daily to determine if changes in the resident’s routine have been made and ensure notes reflect the care plan is followed.
  • Honor the resident’s refusal of treatment and report such requests to your supervisor.

Requirements

  • Regular worksite attendance.
  • Valid CNA certification in good standing with the State.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to work beyond normal working hours, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
  • Ability to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Ability to perform essential position functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Awareness of using a transfer/gait belt or obtaining assistance when lifting or carrying objects in excess of 25 pounds.

  • Hand manipulation (grasping, handling, torquing, fingering): Constantly/Frequently
  • Twisting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and balancing: Required
  • Ability to operate an automobile and various games as required.
  • Must meet general health requirements set forth by State regulations and Company policy, including medical and physical examinations.
  • Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile individuals.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics to enable these senses to function adequately.
