Facility: Brooke Knoll Village (Avon, IN). Must be willing to assist in our re-opened pool.

Purpose

The Restorative Nurse Aide performs restorative nursing duties as directed and documents resident response.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or its equivalent preferred.
  • Successfully completed the Certified Nursing Assistant course.
  • Prefer some experience in restorative nursing and familiarity with the general principles of rehabilitation.
  • Must possess health certificate/examination as required by State agencies.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or have an approved Medical or Religious Exemption.

Standards

  • Demonstrate patience, tact in dealing with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
  • Display good emotional health and capability for much standing, stopping, bending, and heavy lifting.
  • Capable of following instructions and moving throughout most of the working day.
  • Ability to perform repetitive lifting and movement of residents.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in written form.
  • Willingness to work with the realization that errors may have serious consequences for residents.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and cooperate with other staff.
  • Willing to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all job duties listed under Certified Nursing Assistant job description if needed.
  • Performs range of motion for upper and lower extremities on designated residents per plan of care.
  • Ambulates designated residents with walker or cane per plan of care.
  • Performs transfers of designated residents per plan of care.
  • Assists with feeding/dining room organization.
  • Encourages mild geriatric exercises individually or in a group setting.
  • Follows recommendations as given by therapists to preserve/enhance residents’ functional ability.
  • Participates in ensuring splinting devices are being applied as per physician's order.
  • Record keeping/documentation to include:
    • Resident’s specific program.
    • Dates of services performed.
    • Who performed the services.
    • Length of services (i.e., specific number of minutes).
    • Resident response to services.
  • Assist with activities of daily living (i.e., personal hygiene, dressing, and bathing) for designated residents as per plan of care/Restorative Programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Rehab Manager.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Ability to remain calm under stress.
  • Bending, lifting, walking, grasping, fine hand coordination.
  • Ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures.
  • Ability to hear and respond to pages.
