Facility: Brooke Knoll Village (Avon, IN). Must be willing to assist in our re-opened pool.
Purpose
The Restorative Nurse Aide performs restorative nursing duties as directed and documents resident response.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or its equivalent preferred.
- Successfully completed the Certified Nursing Assistant course.
- Prefer some experience in restorative nursing and familiarity with the general principles of rehabilitation.
- Must possess health certificate/examination as required by State agencies.
- Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or have an approved Medical or Religious Exemption.
Standards
- Demonstrate patience, tact in dealing with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
- Display good emotional health and capability for much standing, stopping, bending, and heavy lifting.
- Capable of following instructions and moving throughout most of the working day.
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting and movement of residents.
- Ability to communicate orally and in written form.
- Willingness to work with the realization that errors may have serious consequences for residents.
- Willingness to perform a variety of simple repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision and cooperate with other staff.
- Willing to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant if needed.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all job duties listed under Certified Nursing Assistant job description if needed.
- Performs range of motion for upper and lower extremities on designated residents per plan of care.
- Ambulates designated residents with walker or cane per plan of care.
- Performs transfers of designated residents per plan of care.
- Assists with feeding/dining room organization.
- Encourages mild geriatric exercises individually or in a group setting.
- Follows recommendations as given by therapists to preserve/enhance residents’ functional ability.
- Participates in ensuring splinting devices are being applied as per physician's order.
- Record keeping/documentation to include:
- Resident’s specific program.
- Dates of services performed.
- Who performed the services.
- Length of services (i.e., specific number of minutes).
- Resident response to services.
- Assist with activities of daily living (i.e., personal hygiene, dressing, and bathing) for designated residents as per plan of care/Restorative Programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Rehab Manager.
Physical and Sensory Requirements
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, and support agencies.
- Ability to remain calm under stress.
- Bending, lifting, walking, grasping, fine hand coordination.
- Ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures.
- Ability to hear and respond to pages.
