Restaurant Shift Supervisor
About the role
The role involves ensuring proper greeting, seating, and serving of guests, resolving complaints, managing cash and credit card transactions, maintaining facility and equipment, monitoring food temperatures, training employees, and communicating with the Manager on Duty.
Responsibilities
- Ensures proper greeting, seating, and serving of guests.
- Resolves guest complaints effectively.
- Manages cash, credit card information, and guest checks.
- Maintains proper control of the facility and equipment.
- Makes sure food temperatures are monitored to prevent foodborne illnesses.
- Trains employees during their shifts.
- Takes responsibility for preparing and serving menu items according to standards.
- Anticipates and corrects system breakdowns to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Communicates with the Manager on Duty and coworkers about product/service deficiencies, equipment, safety problems, etc.
- Manages change fund, cash register, and guest check control.
Requirements
- Basic skills in sanitation, safety, and customer service.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Frequent reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Frequent standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift and carry serving trays weighing up to 20 pounds for distances up to 30 feet.
- Must be able to fit through an opening 30 inches wide.
- Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, cold, and odors.
- Must be trustworthy and reliable for handling payment of guest checks and operating the cash register.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
