About the Role
Service of food and/or beverage to guests, including order-taking and delivery, handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely, and professional manner to ensure a very high level of guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Check station before, during, and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
- Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner; explain specials and/or restaurant promotions.
- Record guest orders, repeat details to confirm accuracy, and input orders into the Point of Sale system.
- Retrieve orders from the kitchen, confirm accuracy, and deliver to guests with appropriate condiments.
- Abide by all State, Federal, and Corporate liquor regulations, including serving alcoholic beverages responsibly.
- Replenish beverages as needed and check guest satisfaction.
- Market and serve dessert items or specialty coffees upon request.
- Present and process guest checks per hotel procedures.
Supportive Functions
- Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to maintain health standards.
- Assist with clearing and resetting tables.
- Replenish condiments and restock sidestands.
- Answer telephones, take room service orders, handle special guest requests, and greet/seat guests according to guidelines.
- Attend required meetings.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
- Familiarity with table settings, serviceware, and menu items.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English to understand menus, record orders, and communicate with guests.
- Ability to remember, recite, and promote menu items.
- Ability to transport large trays (up to 40 lbs) through crowded areas continuously during shift.
- Ability to operate beverage and toast equipment, as well as a keyboard for Point of Sale procedures.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Six months to one year of previous serving experience preferred; prior hospitality experience a plus.
- Must obtain Louisiana Responsible Vendor Permit.
