About the Role
The Restaurant Server provides an exceptional dining experience to guests by offering courteous and efficient service, ensuring a welcoming and enjoyable environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests upon arrival, escort them to tables, and provide menus while accommodating special requests or preferences.
- Take food and beverage orders attentively, noting special instructions or dietary restrictions, and input them accurately into the restaurant’s ordering system.
- Serve food and drinks promptly and accurately, ensuring proper presentation and verifying orders match guests’ requests.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and specials, while offering recommendations and answering questions.
- Suggest appetizers, side dishes, desserts, and beverages to enhance the guest’s dining experience and increase sales.
- Maintain clean and properly set tables, clearing empty dishes and resetting tables efficiently for new guests.
- Engage with guests in a friendly and attentive manner, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Present bills, handle payment transactions accurately, and process credit card transactions, returning change or receipts promptly.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff, bussers, and other servers to ensure smooth coordination of orders and efficient service flow.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, maintaining cleanliness in the dining area and following proper hygiene practices.
- Assist with special events, parties, and catering functions as required.
Requirements
- High school education or related experience.
- Alcohol awareness certification and familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred.
- Ability to provide friendly guest service and comply with proper ordering, food handling, and serving guidelines.
- Experience processing guest checks and handling payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card, and accounting policies.
Working Conditions & Physical Effort
Physical work is a primary part of this role. Requirements include extended standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Some work is performed in an interior environment with equipment and machines.
