About this position

The primary responsibility of this role is to clear, clean, and set tables in a restaurant or beverage setting, and deliver food orders to customers.

Job Duties & Functions

  • Delivers food orders to customers
  • Clears dish or glassware from tables during service
  • Cleans and sets tables in between guests
  • Maintains cleanliness of the dining area
  • Stocks service areas and assists waitstaff as needed
  • May assist with dishwashing

Requirements

  • Typically requires a high school diploma and 0 to 2 years of experience
  • Handles basic issues and problems, referring more complex issues to higher-level staff
  • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter
  • Requires clerical skills, organizational skills, oral communication skills, and customer/client orientation

Working Conditions/Environment

  • Inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
  • Outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather
  • Extremely hot or cold temperatures: Frequent exposure for more than one hour
  • Noise: Frequent exposure
