Truth be Told, a restaurant located inside The Study at University of Chicago, is currently seeking a flex Host to provide genuine hospitality and the highest quality of service to our guests. The ideal candidate can create an engaging environment, providing courteous, responsive, guest-centered service. Pay Rate: $20.60 Responsibilities Provide the highest and most efficient level of hospitality and customer service expected by our guestsGreet guest and seats guestsHelp guest with reservations and guide them to their tableRecords and confirms reservations thought OpenTable or through call-in requestsMonitor guest waiting listAnswers telephone to service internal and external guestHandles room service and to go orders via telephoneHandles cash, credit cards and guest room charges. Assists with serving guest by bringing out meal orders if servers are busyHelp monitor and observe guest’s dining experience to ensure guest are satisfied with the food and service and respond promptly and courteously to correct any problemsMaintain a level of knowledge of all menu items and beverage programsBe a team player and assist others when and where necessary to ensure a seamless guest experienceComplete the setup and breakdown of a section, including detailed cleaning of the work area and surrounding areasWorking with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on timeMaintain a safe and clean work environmentReport any damages, shortcomings, and disturbances to supervisorsEnsuring that restaurant operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulationsAbility to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidaysBe available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the Restaurant ManagerAny other duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager Fundamentals Ability to maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all timesEducation: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)Experience: 2+ years experience in a fine dining or upscale casual environmentFlexibility to work any shift, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysExcellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skillsProficiency in English required. A second language is desirableStrong organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentAbility to positively communicate and interact with all hotel departmentsAbility to grasp, lift and or carry, or otherwise, move goods weighing a maximum of 40 lbsAbility to stand for long periods indoors with a thematically climate-controlled workstationStudy Hotels is a drug-free workplace.
