About the Role
The Restaurant Caretaker ensures all areas of the restaurant, inside and out, are clean, sanitary, safe, and in good working condition. This role also includes operating a snowcat to deliver food, beverage, and supplies to on-mountain restaurants. On-site housing is provided.
This is a seasonal full-time position reporting to the General Manager – Market Restaurants.
Responsibilities
- Complete physical and mechanical walk-through of the building and notify the arriving manager of any noticeable or outstanding problems.
- Winter-specific duties: snow removal from decks and walkways, icicle removal from rooflines, and applying snowmelt where appropriate.
- Summer-specific duties: basic landscaping tasks, trash removal around the building, cleaning windows and floors, and replacing light bulbs and carpet as needed.
- Assist the facilities or engineering team with maintenance projects as needed.
- Set ski or bike racks in the proper location at the beginning and end of the day.
- Secure, open, and close the building.
- Vacuum all carpeted areas, sweep and mop back-of-house areas as directed.
- Load, drive, and maintain the supply snowcat to deliver food, beverage, and other required items to restaurants, following designated routes and cross-referencing delivery invoices.
- Complete daily pre-start-up snowcat checklist, including radio operation, ensure proper fueling and fluid levels, and promptly notify management of any mechanical or safety issues.
- Follow correct protocols for trash, recycling, and compost removal from restaurants, exercising proper care when transporting hazardous goods.
- Assist the restaurant team with end-of-day cleaning and closing procedures if needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid, current, unrestricted driver’s license required.
- At least 2 years of experience in facility maintenance or landscaping required.
- Prior experience driving a snowcat or similar equipment preferred.
- Knowledge of company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and operational standards.
- Familiarity with restaurant and building mechanical equipment.
- Ability to ski or ride at an intermediate level — required for winter operations at ski-in/ski-out locations.
- Ability to operate a variety of vehicles, including stick shift, snowcat, and snowmobile.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk, or be on your feet for extended periods.
- Regularly work in wet, hot, and humid conditions for extended periods; may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces.
- Must be able to continually lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
