Responsible AI Engineer

About the role

We are Accenture’s Global Responsible AI team within the Global Data & AI Practice. AI is becoming more pervasive, powerful, and accessible, bringing both new opportunities and increased risks. We partner with leading organizations to ensure AI is designed, built, and deployed in a trustworthy manner that adheres to laws, regulations, and ethical norms. Our Responsible AI strategy embeds responsibility into all of Accenture’s data and AI activities, including differentiated IP and solutions developed with ecosystem partners. We engage regulators to shape policy agendas, conduct pioneering research with academia, and deliver training and resources to clients through the Responsible AI Academy.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement AI models and solutions with a focus on ethical and responsible practices.
• Detect, evaluate, and apply relevant Responsible AI dimensions (e.g., bias, fairness, robustness, explainability) to AI systems and mitigate identified risks.
• Support client sales conversations and proposal preparation.
• Optimize and maintain existing AI systems to enhance performance and ensure adherence to ethical standards.
• Participate in the full AI development lifecycle, including data preparation, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support.
• Contribute to internal guidelines, best practices for responsible AI development, and technical training.
• Stay current with AI trends, ethical considerations, and technological advancements.
• Assist in identifying and correcting biases in datasets and AI models.
• Document AI development processes and maintain transparent records of decisions and methodologies.
• Travel may be required (0–100% depending on business need and client requirements).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent work experience (minimum 12 years). For Associate’s Degree, minimum 6 years of work experience is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience developing and evaluating machine learning models and AI solutions.
• At least 2 years of experience in one or more of the following: statistics and probability theory, regression modelling, clustering methods, time series forecasting, tree ensembles, deep learning, neural networks, generative AI, natural language processing, text mining, computer vision, image recognition, or machine learning visualization tools.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with:
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Rapid API development using frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
  • Fundamental version control practices and proficiency with platforms such as GitHub or Bitbucket.
  • Experience with database management and data processing.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of cloud services and platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) related to AI.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex datasets and perform data preprocessing and analysis.

Pay

Compensation varies by office location, role, skill set, and experience. Below are annual salary ranges for select locations:

• California: $73,800 to $220,400
• Cleveland: $68,300 to $176,300
• Colorado: $73,800 to $190,400
• District of Columbia: $78,500 to $202,700
• Illinois: $68,300 to $190,400
• Maryland: $73,800 to $190,400
• Massachusetts: $73,800 to $202,700
• Minnesota: $73,800 to $190,400
• New York: $68,300 to $220,400
• New Jersey: $78,500 to $220,400
• Washington: $80,200 to $202,700
