Job Description

The Respite Worker provides supervision to ensure the safety of individuals while allowing primary caregivers time away. They perform a variety of person-centered supports and services, focusing on personal choice.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide services to individuals in their home and community.
  • Perform lifting and other one-to-one functions for the individuals we serve.
  • Build positive relationships and support individuals to advocate for their needs and rights.
  • Communicate health care concerns to supervisor or administrator as necessary.
  • Encourage community integration with an emphasis on inclusion, access, and safety.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in supervision for professional growth and development.
  • Complete required initial and annual training and ongoing training.
  • Document results of fire drills and report to work promptly.
  • Adhere to and implement relevant codes of ethics, conduct, and policies.
  • Report to work promptly and adhere to the assigned schedule.
  • Conduct fire drills and document results as instructed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate an agency vehicle if needed.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the job including but not limited to the ability to stoop, lift, kneel, push, pull, reach, stand, walk, hear, listen, and communicate appropriately.
