About the role

StaffFlex contract, 13 weeks

Certified or Registered Resp Therapist $69.03/hr + differential

7p-7a, open availability, with rotating weekend shifts

Responsibilities

  • Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
  • Maintains patient safety by monitoring, instructing, and coaching patients before, during, and after treatment delivery.
  • Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria.
  • Evaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed.
  • Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress.
  • Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
  • Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols.
  • Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress.
  • Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining or guiding the determination of ventilator mode and settings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations are required.
  • Intubations and airway management for all population served (preferred).
  • Ventilator management for all populations served (preferred).
  • Arterial line placements (preferred).

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's degree in respiratory care.
  • Experience: 1+ years of critical care experience (preferred).

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations.
  • Intubations and airway management for all population served (preferred).
  • Ventilator management for all populations served (preferred).
  • Arterial line placements (preferred).
