Certified or Registered Resp Therapist $69.03/hr + differential
7p-7a, open availability, with rotating weekend shifts
Responsibilities
- Delivers routine respiratory treatments and continuous respiratory therapy including aerosol therapy, lung expansion therapy, oxygen therapy, and bronchial hygiene.
- Maintains patient safety by monitoring, instructing, and coaching patients before, during, and after treatment delivery.
- Prevents and/or resolves untoward side effects and adjusts therapies according to protocol and documented clinical criteria.
- Evaluates patient/ventilator interface a minimum of every four hours, responds to alarms, and troubleshoots as needed.
- Establishes weaning readiness and facilitates the weaning process, adjusting ventilator settings in accordance with patient progress.
- Draws and analyzes arterial and capillary blood gases, places arterial lines, and makes or recommends changes in respiratory management according to blood gas results.
- Recommends changes in respiratory plan of care according to documented medical necessity and within established protocols.
- Makes and/or recommends changes based on pulse oximetry, peak flow measurement, chest x-ray, lab work, and other data relevant to optimal patient progress.
- Initiates and maintains mechanical ventilation, determining or guiding the determination of ventilator mode and settings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations are required.
- Intubations and airway management for all population served (preferred).
- Ventilator management for all populations served (preferred).
- Arterial line placements (preferred).
Qualifications
- Education: Associate's degree in respiratory care.
- Experience: 1+ years of critical care experience (preferred).
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations.
- Intubations and airway management for all population served (preferred).
- Ventilator management for all populations served (preferred).
- Arterial line placements (preferred).
