RESPIRATORY THERAPIST (RT) PRN NIGHTS

About the role

AMG Specialty Hospital - Lafayette is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist for night shifts. You will care for patients with complex respiratory conditions, including respiratory failure requiring ventilation, vapotherm, high flow, BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula. These patients may also need sedation/pain management, pressor management, and cardiac/anti-arrhythmic management. Other common conditions include complicated infections requiring long-term IV antibiotics and chronic non-healing wounds treated with wound vacs and frequent dressing changes.

Shift differentials are paid for all night and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in a long-term acute care setting.
• Communicate with physicians, case managers, and co-workers about changes in patient clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptomatology.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment.
• Perform general nursing duties across departments with adequate supervision.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved respiratory care program.
• Active Louisiana Respiratory Therapist License.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Minimum of one to three years of related work experience.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
