About the role
The Respiratory Therapist, under the direction of management, is responsible for providing clinical direction and in-services regarding patient care and other respiratory related issues to the facility.
Responsibilities
- Provides respiratory related services for established times or services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of services.
- Gathers information, completes and/or submits information to the facility.
- Records all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts.
- Assists facility in regulatory issues, ensures that respiratory equipment and supplies are stored in appropriate storage areas, and provides appropriate documentation.
- Takes care of routine mail, phone calls, and pages.
- Completes necessary filing and faxing.
- Communicates with facility staff regarding relevant clinical and operational issues.
- Assesses for patient's respiratory needs.
- Absesses oxygen saturation and uses pulse ox.
- Assists with ventilator patients and works with ventilators.
- Completes TARs at the end of each month checking for accurate information.
- Assesses for decannulation and weaning.
- May participate in a wide variety of special projects.
- Solves routine problems and communicates solutions to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
- A CRT or RRT license and a graduate of an AMA approved school for respiratory care.
- A valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state employed.
- A valid CPR certification.
- Vent certified, preferred.
- One year of respiratory therapy experience preferred in a long-term care setting.
Qualifications
- Education: A CRT or RRT license and a graduate of an AMA approved school for respiratory care.
- Licenses/Certification: Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state employed. Valid CPR certification. Vent certified, preferred.

Pay
Starting Wages at $35.40-$44.40 per hour. Wage Calculation is based on experience, shift, a $3.40/hr Michigan Direct Care Incentive, $4 weekend pay.
