Role Overview

Responsible for performing respiratory care procedures under medical supervision, assessing residents, administering therapies, managing life support systems, and monitoring patient responses. The role involves patient/family education, equipment maintenance, emergency response, and documentation to ensure optimal respiratory health for adult and geriatric populations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess residents' respiratory and cardiopulmonary status using various diagnostic methods.
  • Administer prescribed therapies, medications, and respiratory modalities, monitoring for adverse reactions.
  • Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and life support equipment.
  • Perform airway care, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and emergency procedures.
  • Educate residents and families on respiratory treatments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, equipment, and supply inventories.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning, quality assurance, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Completion of an NBRC-approved respiratory therapy program and one year of clinical experience.
  • Current State Licensure for a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical judgment, technical skills, and ability to communicate effectively.
