Responsibilities
- Performs all aspects of respiratory care to include diagnostic tests of the cardio-pulmonary system according to policy and procedures under the direction of the Medical Director, Department Director, Coordinator/Team Leader
- Responds to emergency situations
- Maintains competencies to ensure compliance with all regulatory statutes
- Administers medication and treatments in accordance with established policies
- Reports identified unusual patient conditions/reactions to immediate supervisor
- Prepares electronic documentation of all work/service rendered and provides written/verbal report to oncoming staff
- Performs quality control on all Respiratory Care equipment to include I-STAT blood gas analyzers
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains a safe environment
- Adds to patient population-specific needs
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited AMA Respiratory Care Program
- Possession of current RCP State of Texas License
- Possession of current CRT / RRT Certification from NBRC Renewal required every 5 years unless grandfathered prior to July 1, 2002)
- Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
- AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role.
- AHA PALS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role if covering Pedi.
- AHA NRP must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role if covering NICU.
