Respiratory Therapist (RT)

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist, under the direction of management, is responsible for providing clinical direction and in-services regarding patient care and other respiratory related issues to the facility.

Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory related services for established times or services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of services.
• Gathers and submits information to the facility for patients qualifying for clinical needs.
• Records all pertinent information on respiratory care records and patient charts, including consults, recommendations, and conversations with physicians, staff, patient, patient family members, or other caregivers.
• Affixes respiratory equipment and supplies to appropriate storage areas and provides necessary documentation within the facility.
• Takes care of routine mail, phone calls, and pages, as needed.
• Communicates with facility staff regarding relevant clinical and operational issues, patient care issues, and special projects.
• Assesses for patient's respiratory needs, oxygen saturation, and use of pulse oximeters.
• Completes treatment and ventilator checks in a timely manner.
• Notifies supervisor of any facility concerns or needs.
• Completes TARs at the end of each month, ensuring accurate information.
• Assesses for decannulation and weaning.
• Might participate in a wide variety of special projects.
• Solves routine problems and communicates solutions to appropriate personnel.

Qualifications

• A CRT or RRT license and a graduate of an AMA approved school for respiratory care.
• A valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state employed.
• A valid CPR certification.
• Vent Certified, preferred.
• One year of respiratory therapy experience preferred in a long-term care setting.

$42.00 - $49.00 per hour
