Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Nights

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care, primarily in critical care settings, involving ventilator management, medication administration, airway procedures, and patient assessment. They educate patients, families, and staff, ensuring quality and safe care while supporting team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered respiratory therapy, including aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, oxygen, and medical gas therapy.
• Manage ventilators, perform weaning, interpret waveforms, and handle airway management (intubation, extubation, trach care).
• Conduct arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
• Assess patients and collaborate with healthcare team members to develop care plans.
• Mentor and precept new employees, students, and peers.
• Assist in invasive and non-invasive procedures, pulmonary diagnostics, and cardiac service procedures.
• Promote a safe environment, high-quality documentation, adherence to evidence-based practices, and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program with at least 20 quarter hours of science; associate degree required, bachelor's preferred.
• Current certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Care Professional, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP.
• 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
