Respiratory Therapist RRT - Full Time - Night Shift

Work Shift/Schedule: 12-hour evening to morning shift.

About the Role

Administers and coordinates a variety of treatments relating to respiratory problems for patients across the lifespan. Consistently provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team for complex patients. Communicates patient care updates and responds to emergency and critical care situations. Assesses patients and determines the appropriate course of action. This position cares for patients in neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Seeks and provides feedback for improved clinical practice. Participates in tier 1 huddles, staff meetings, and utilizes Error Prevention Tools for safe care delivery. Actively supports and participates in VOICE and unit practice council initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Promotes quality patient care through effective communication with nurses, physicians, and supervisors regarding patient care issues, ventilator changes, ABG (Arterial Blood Gas) results, and critical care concerns.
• Provides detailed shift reports, preferably at the bedside when possible.
• Ensures complete and accurate documentation in the medical record, including verifying orders, documenting treatments, medications, ventilator flow sheets, and maintaining ABG logs, QC, and maintenance records.
• Manages critical care patients, including ventilator management, assimilating chart information (CXR, lab results, H&P, progress notes), and assisting nurses with duties to ensure quality care.
• Documents any changes in the patient care plan, including clear explanations of events and deviations from the documented plan.
• Performs floor therapy modalities, including assigned therapy, new starts, patient education, and follow-ups for critical care patients transitioning to floor areas.
• Understands and follows oxygen and aerosol protocols, informing the floor of any unexpected treatment delays.
• Contributes to the productive and effective operation of the department by organizing patient care, setting priorities, and performing consultations/assessments as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist (Respiratory Care Professional) in the state of Georgia.
• Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
• Respiratory Therapy training through an accredited school and successful completion of the registry examination.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

• One (1) year of prior experience in a relevant position.
