Role Overview: The respiratory therapist is a clinically competent practitioner responsible for providing respiratory care with minimal guidance. Key Responsibilities: Perform therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, and care for patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and related system abnormalities. Administer oxygen, medical gases, aerosolized medications, ventilators, and resuscitation devices. Conduct pulmonary diagnostic procedures and assessments, tailoring treatments to patients' age-specific needs. Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams to ensure quality patient care across clinical and critical care settings. Participate in ongoing training and certification to develop expertise in specialized areas. Qualifications & Skills: An Associate’s Degree is required, with a Bachelor's preferred, from an AMA-approved program. Must hold a valid Connecticut Respiratory Care Practitioner license and be registered as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the NBRC. BLS and ACLS certifications are essential. Ability to work independently within a team environment is also necessary.
