Respiratory Therapist- Respiratory- Full Time (day shift)
About the role
The Respiratory Care Lead is a clinical expert responsible for overseeing the respiratory care team, ensuring smooth operations and delivering high-quality patient care across various age groups. This role includes experience and clinical competence in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Responsibilities
- Exemplifies a professional role model, holds self and others accountable, coaches, and mentors others, communicates professionally and respectfully.
- Adheres to Elliot and departmental policies and procedures.
- Assists in developing, revising, and implementing protocols, clinical pathways, policies, and procedures, including training and competence.
- Conducts daily huddle for oncoming shifts, providing insights on organizational acuity and departmental updates.
- Participates in providing education to other members of the healthcare team, including nursing and physician staff.
- Collaborates with peers, supports new ideas, and offers solutions, participating in staff meetings, special projects, teams, outside courses, cross training, and committees.
- Organizes and implements skills days.
- Maintains compliance with timekeeping and attendance, generates accessible communication for the current shift, establishes, monitors, and adjusts staffing patterns, ensures appropriate workload distribution and delegation, rounds through areas of the hospital, monitors patient conditions, assures proper equipment operation, and provides point of care education.
- Assists in direct clinical orientation of new staff, students, and contracted staff, identifies and resolves equipment/supply issues, and provides recommendations and action plans regarding staffing and workflow issues.
- Performs all duties required of a registered respiratory therapist at EHS, performs other related responsibilities as assigned.
- Reinforces productivity expectations of the respiratory care leadership team, assures attendance at patient rounds, ensures appropriate staff documentation and data collection, assures appropriate and safe patient care, provides feedback on staff performance, and supports the department’s Shared Governance structure.
Requirements
- Graduate of CoARC approved accredited school for Respiratory Therapy
- Bachelor's degree required or must be actively enrolled in a program within 6 months of hire. Termination of a program without degree completion, removes eligibility for the role.
- Master's degree preferred.
- State of New Hampshire Respiratory care practitioner license required at date of hire.
- BLS certification required within 90 days from date of hire.
- ACLS and PALS certifications required within 6 months of hire.
- Registered Respiratory Therapy credentials required. RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS, or RRT-AC-C credential required within one year of hire.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) completed within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent, clinical experience.
- Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Expert clinical skills and knowledge to function independently in an advanced clinical role. Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in a multidisciplinary environment and appropriate to the patient populations served.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability as an effective leader including effective communication, education, and mentorship.
