About the role

Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Performs direct patient care and the provision of Respiratory Care and Hyperbaric Medicine (for those special trained) procedures in all areas within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all procedures according to policy and procedure.
  • Organizes workload to ensure therapy is completed as prescribed.
  • Participates in all aspects of Respiratory Care educational activities and departmental meetings.
  • Documents and maintains records, charts, and reports in a timely manner; documents appropriately.
  • Responds to Code Blue and Rapid Response alerts in a timely manner and documents appropriately.
  • Exercises sound clinical judgment and assessment skills to provide appropriate provision of patient care, monitoring, and communication of information to other caregivers.
  • Evaluates patient care and makes recommendations when needed.
  • For special trained staff: Performs Pulmonary Functions, Methacholine Challenges, Hyperbaric Medicine, NICU care, PICU care, and Asthma Education.

Requirements

  • Zero to less than 1 year of experience in Respiratory Care.
  • Participation in the National Board for Respiratory Care's (NBRC) Continuing Competency Program to maintain credential if received credential after July 1, 2002.
  • Associate of Respiratory Care from an accredited CoARC institution.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or new graduate. New graduates have 3 months to obtain RRT after hire and/or graduation date.
  • ACLS certification must be completed within 3 months of hire or transfer date (existing employees have 6 months from the date this job description is signed to complete training).
  • PALS certification must be completed within 6 months of hire or transfer date (existing employees have 6 months from the date this job description is signed to complete training).

Schedule

72 hours biweekly. Night shift with weekends and holidays as scheduled.
