About the role
The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) 1 is an entry-level RCP. The RCP 1 demonstrates competencies in respiratory assessments and procedures for all patient populations and age groups. The RCP 1 performs and interacts as a healthcare professional administering respiratory care procedures in acute care and critical care areas. The RCP 1 demonstrates competency as outlined in the RCP I COT. The RCP 1 focuses on developing critical thinking skills. Under the direction of the Pulmonary Services Leadership team, provides professional respiratory care to patients in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Successful completion of all clinical rotations for respiratory therapy program
- Associate degree from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program
- State of Wisconsin license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) or AHA approved equivalent
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required within 18 months of hire
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 6 months of hire
- American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required within 6 months of hire (CHD only)
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and Wisconsin Society for Respiratory Care (WSRC) membership
- Advanced certification with crisis de-escalation (MANDT), Hospital HazMat, or special pathogens
- Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) (CHD only)
