Respiratory Therapist - (PT)
About the role
The Respiratory Care Practitioner performs independent professional respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, clinical evaluation of care including the establishment of therapeutic objectives and the review of care based on the age and needs of the patient. The practitioner is involved in acute, critical and/or life-threatening patient care areas and situations. Standard practice requires the practitioner to proceed alone in administering emergency, life-sustaining procedures until such time as judgment and decision-making responsibilities may be assumed by a physician.
Responsibilities
- Perform independent professional respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Establish therapeutic objectives and review care based on patient age and needs
- Proceed alone in administering emergency, life-sustaining procedures until a physician assumes judgment and decision-making responsibilities
Requirements
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification, within 3 months of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification upon date of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Certification, within 3 months of hire
- Post-graduate clinical experience in all aspects of respiratory care including extensive critical care background required
- Proficient demonstration of ventilator care and management required
- Clinical evaluation and assessment skills for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Strong communication skills required
Qualifications
- Obtain credential of Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within one year of employment
