About the role

Mcleod Health is a locally owned and managed, not-for-profit organization founded in 1906. It includes seven hospitals, three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services, and operates in an 18-county service area.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
  • Performs direct patient care and the provision of Respiratory Care procedures in all areas within the facility.
  • Performs all procedures according to policy & procedure.
  • Organizes workload to ensure therapy is completed as prescribed.
  • Participates in all aspects of RC educational activities & departmental meetings.
  • Documents & maintains records, charts, and reports in a timely manner & documents appropriately.
  • Responds to all emergency alerts in a timely manner & documents appropriately.
  • Exercises sound clinical judgement & assessment skills to provide appropriate provision of patient care & monitoring & communication of information to other caregivers.
  • Evaluates patient care & makes recommendations when needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Training

  • Zero to less than one year of experience in Respiratory Care with an Associate of Resp. Care from an accredited CoARC institution.
  • Participation in the National Board for Respiratory Care's (NBRC) Continuing Competency Program to maintain credential if received credential after July 1, 2002.

Education

  • Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist or new graduate.
  • New graduates have 3 months to obtain RRT after hire and/or graduation date.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner by the SC Board of Medical Examiners.

Other Requirements

  • BLS certification ACLS certification must be completed within 3 months of hire or transfer date (Existing employees have 6 months from the date this Job Description is signed to complete training).
  • PALS certification must be completed within 6 months of hire or transfer date (Existing employees have 6 months from the date this Job Description is signed to complete training).
