Respiratory Therapist - Per Diem

About the Role

Per Diem Registered Respiratory Therapist specializing in the application of scientific knowledge and theory to practical clinical problems of respiratory care. Assumes primary clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities specific to their clinical area, including supervision of students enrolled in respiratory care programs. May be required to exercise considerable independent clinical judgment in the respiratory care of patients under direct or indirect physician supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care using clinical expertise and independent judgment.
• Supervise students enrolled in respiratory care programs.
• Participate in orientation and continuing education as mandated by the State of New York.
• Update and maintain knowledge and skills related to specific areas of practice expertise.
• Complete population-specific competency annually on populations served as identified in scope of care and service.

Requirements

• Graduation from a CoARC accredited program in respiratory care with an Associate's Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Licensed by the State of New York.
• BLS/ACLS/NRP/CPR Certification within orientation period.

Work Environment

• Clinical setting with routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions, or secretions (Exposure class I).

Physical Demands

Medium work: standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.

Pay

Pay range: $35.60 - $47.40 per hour. Per Diem positions are based on a flat rate and will be discussed. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education.
