Respiratory Therapist - Per Diem

About the Role

The Respiratory Therapist provides patient assessment, develops care plans, and performs various respiratory treatments, including aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and airway management. They operate mechanical ventilators, monitor patient status, and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy and invasive line placements. The therapist also educates patients and families on disease management, supports intra-hospital patient transport, and adheres to safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and establish care plans.
• Administer and document therapeutic modalities and manage ventilators.
• Assist with airway management and emergency interventions.
• Collect arterial blood gases and operate monitoring devices.
• Support intra-hospital transport and discharge planning.
• Serve as Shift Coordinator and preceptor for students and new staff.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with safety standards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and specialized training in Respiratory Therapy.
• Ability to perform patient assessments, operate ventilators, and manage emergency airway situations.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
• Flexibility to work various shifts with a minimum of 24 hours per month.
