Respiratory Therapist PER DIEM
About the role
The Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory diagnostic testing, respiratory care, and electrocardiogram testing to patients of all ages, from newborn through geriatrics. Duties include testing for diagnosis, treatments, rehabilitation, patient teaching, in addition to cleaning and maintenance of respiratory equipment.
Responsibilities
- Consulting with physicians and other healthcare staff to help develop and modify individual patient care plans.
- Provide complex therapy requiring a great deal of independent judgment, such as caring for patients who are life support in the Intensive Care Unit.
- Teach patients how to use medications and equipment.
- Perform regular checks on patients and equipment.
- Assist in using and updating evidence based therapies and protocols to treat a wide variety of patients.
Requirements
- Current NYS Licensed Respiratory Therapist required.
- CPR required.
- One year or more previous hospital experience, or in a healthcare setting preferred.
Qualifications
- Current NYS Licensed Respiratory Therapist required.
- CPR required.
- ACLS and PALS certification required within 1 year of hire.
Skills
- Knowledge of respiratory diagnostic testing and treatments.
- Ability to perform electrocardiogram testing.
- Experience in patient teaching and education.
- Proficiency in using and maintaining respiratory equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Pay
Pay Range: $39.65/hour Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
Schedule
On site orientation is approximately 4 weeks.
